Bombardier will supply 25 Traxx locomotives to Hungary for domestic passenger use as well as for cross-border transport to Austria and Germany.

The €80m ($112m) contract has been awarded by Hungarian state railway Magyar Államvasutak and includes an option for another 25 locomotives.
The Traxx P 160 AC locomotives feature Bombardier’s Mitrac propulsion technology and consist of three electric variants, namely the multi-system, alternating and direct current locomotives as well as a diesel-electric design.
Delivery of the first vehicle is scheduled for spring 2011.
