CNR will Supply 20 Diesel Locomotives for KiwiRail

CNR Corporation, a Chinese train manufacturer, will supply 20 diesel locomotives to New Zealand’s state-operated KiwiRail as part of a contract signed with LORIC Import & Export, marking the company’s expansion into new markets among developed countries.

Chinese train manufacturer China CNR Corporation will supply 20 diesel locomotives to New Zealand’s state-operated KiwiRail.

The contract has been signed between CNR’s foreign trade arm LORIC Import & Export and KiwiRail. The delivery of the first six locomotives is expected in May 2010 and the remainder of the fleet in August 2010.
CNR president Cui Dianguo said the project would help the company develop new markets among developed countries, reports chinadaily.com.
KiwiRail operates over 90% of the 4,700km rail network in New Zealand.
