The United Kingdom-based manufacturer W.H. Davis will construct a new fleet of infrastructure maintenance wagons for Iarnród Éireann. Production of the rolling stock will take place at the company’s facility in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire.

The agreement is valued at approximately €23 million. This procurement will replace existing maintenance vehicles that have been operational for more than 50 years. The first units from the new fleet are scheduled for delivery to Iarnród Éireann beginning in the summer of 2027.

The wagons are specified for the transport of track components such as rails, sleepers, and pre-assembled track panels across the Irish rail network. Prototype vehicles are currently in production. Following delivery, the assets will undergo a period of testing and commissioning before entering operational service in late summer 2027.

This order follows a previous contract placed by Iarnród Éireann with W.H. Davis in April 2025 for the supply of 150 intermodal freight wagons.
