Alstom has received two contracts with a combined value of €€11m ($17m) from Casa Transports en Site Aménagé in Morocco to provide railway signalling and electrical power supply systems for Casablanca’s tramway network.

The contracts involve the installation of railway signalling and electrical power supply systems for the first 30km of the tramway network, which is currently under construction.
The line will cross the city from east to west and carry up to 250,000 passengers daily.
Alstom will also install signalling for the line and its depot as well as 23 electrical substations and substation buildings, which will supply power to the catenary system.
Work will be complete in October 2012 and the line will be operational by December of the same year.
