Kazakhstan has signed two rail contracts with French firm Alstom to supply turnout motors, build a tram system, and enter into joint agreements for local signaling equipment production.

Kazakhstan has signed French firm Alstom for two rail contracts to supply turnout motors and build a tram system for capital city Astana.
Alstom has also entered into a joint agreement with the country’s national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, for the local production of signalling equipment and turnout motors.

The product will feature a remote diagnostic system and will be suitable for operations in temperatures as low as -40°C.

The second agreement for the tramway system includes carrying out a feasibility study, maintenance and supply of Citadis trams.
