Slovenian Railways is acquiring 12 new Eurosprinter locomotives from Siemens Mobility, including three-system capability for expanded operations across multiple European countries.

Slovenian Railways is to increase its fleet with 12 Eurosprinter locomotives from German train manufacturer Siemens Mobility, in a deal worth €48m.

The SZ 541-type locomotives, with three-system capability, means they can be operated in Austria, Germany, Hungary Slovenia, Italy and Croatia.
The four-axle locomotive weighs 86t, is built for a maximum speed of 200km/h and has a starting tractive effort of 303kN.
The first of the locomotives will be ready in 2009 and production will take place in Germany and Austria.
