The Polish Rail Administration has awarded a PLN129m (approximately $45m) contract to Swedish company Skanska to renovate Gdansk railway station in Warsaw.

The project involves restructuring the track area and demolishing and rebuilding four platforms on the station. A new underground walkway to the adjoining Gdansk subway station and Zajaczka street will also be built.

Work is expected to begin in autumn and finish in 13 months.
