Ohio Rail Development Commission Awards $195,000 In Rail Grants
Ohio Rail Development Commission awarded $195,000 in grants to Watco and AluChem for rail infrastructure projects in Toledo and Jackson.

On January 22, the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) authorized two grants with a combined value of $195,000. These funds support separate infrastructure initiatives in Toledo and Jackson, which have a total project cost of $390,000.
A grant of $120,000 was awarded to Watco for the rehabilitation of a grade crossing on Chrysler Drive in Toledo. The crossing is located on a spur line operated by the Ann Arbor Railroad that serves the Stellantis Jeep manufacturing complex. The total cost for this specific project is $240,000. Stellantis has previously announced plans to begin midsize truck production at the facility in 2028.
In Jackson, the ORDC awarded $75,000 to alumina manufacturer AluChem. The funding contributes to a $150,000 project to reactivate a second, dormant rail spur at the company’s plant. This work is intended to increase on-site railcar storage capacity.
