On Tuesday, Metro Transit initiated vehicle testing on its Green Line light-rail extension, a 14.5-mile project spanning from Minneapolis to Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Green Line Extension Testing Phase

Test trains are currently being towed at 5 mph using a rail-car mover. This process involves clearance measurements along the 14.5-mile extension. According to a press release from Metro Transit officials, this phase precedes actual test runs. The vehicles are being towed to Eden Prairie throughout the week.

Construction Status

Construction of the Green Line extension is approximately 85% complete. Testing and operator training are scheduled to continue until 2027.
