LTG Group, Lithuania’s national railway operator, has completed a major upgrade of its communication network in collaboration with Ribbon Communications. This critical project involved the modernization of trackside hardware, network management systems, and security software, including Ribbon’s Future Railway Mobile Communication System. The upgraded network is designed to meet the demands of modern rail transport, ensuring enhanced safety and an improved experience for passengers.

Christian Erbe, Ribbon’s Head of EMEA Sales, emphasized the significance of the project, stating that the new data network enables LTG to handle the complexities of contemporary rail operations seamlessly. He also highlighted the successful partnership with Telia Lithuania and LTG Group. LTG’s CEO, Egidijus Lazauskas, explained that the multi-year contract covered various essential components, from architectural design to the migration of existing services. The upgrade also includes seven years of service and support for the newly installed equipment.

In addition to the network upgrade, LTG announced the opening of a Rail Baltica information center at Kaunas train station. This center provides the public with access to the latest updates on the multinational Rail Baltica project, which aims to connect Lithuania with its Baltic neighbors. Deputy Minister Loreta Maskaliovienė described the center as a unique opportunity for visitors to learn about the project’s significance and scale. She emphasized that Kaunas, as the hub of Rail Baltica, plays a pivotal role in connecting Lithuania with Northern, Western, and Central Europe.
