During the visit, the head of the company held a series of meetings with representatives from governmental bodies in Indonesia, as well as with Edi Sukmoro, president of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, the state railway company.
As part of the talks, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Russia and Indonesia in the field of railway transport. According to Mr. Belozerov, cooperation with our Indonesian partners is particularly emphasized in the international activities of the company.

During a meeting with Minister of Transport of Indonesia Budi Karya Sumadi, the head of JSC Russian Railways praised bilateral cooperation in the field of training. According to him, since 2014 there have been 50 spots allocated every year to train Indonesian students in Russian railway universities.
Currently 100 students from Kalimantan are training in our country, and another 50 will arrive in early October.

For his part, Budi Karya Sumadi expressed his intention to invite Russian lecturers to Indonesian universities, not only to teach students, but also for scientific research.

The head of JSC Russian Railways, who currently also heads the International Union of Railways, said that the UIC appreciates the participation of the Ministry of Transport of Indonesia and Indonesian railways in its activities.

“I believe that many of the initiatives arising within the UIC may be of interest for the railways and transport administration of Indonesia and I invite you to actively cooperate in this international forum,” said Mr. Belozerov.

In the course of the meeting between the president of JSC Russian Railways, Minister of State-Owned Businesses of the Republic of Indonesia Rini Soemarno, and Edi Sukmoro, various areas of cooperation were discussed. Rini Soemarno praised the control system on Russian railways, which she saw during her visit to Moscow in December of last year. She suggested that JSC Russian Railways consider participating in the modernization of the railway management system in Indonesia and expressed confidence that “the serious competence of JSC Russian Railways in the organization’s management system will significantly improve the performance of existing railways in Indonesia.”

During the conversation with the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia Susi Pudjiastuti, special attention was paid to environmental issues. Mr. Belozerov noted that JSC Russian Railways pays much attention to environmental issues in its projects. He said that the company has adopted its Environmental Strategy and has made serious commitments to reduce any negative impact on nature.

“In all of our projects we try not to disturb the balance of nature. For us this is a key factor,” said Mr. Belozerov.

During the talks, the sides also discussed various aspects of the project of implementing transport infrastructure projects on the island of Kalimantan to transport coal and other goods.
