IT service provider Telvent has won a contract from Isolux-Corsan to supply a light rail priority system to Enterprise Metro d’Alger in Oran, Algeria.

The company’s SmartMobility Light Rail system will cover 32 stations on the 18km route and is expected to begin operations by 2011.
The system will determine when the light rail is approaching an intersection, and will give priority to light rail over private transportation if required.

The project enables the city to coordinate interaction between city traffic and the light rail system, improving road safety levels and minimising train delays and standstills.
