Greenbrier Leasing Europe Secures Bogie Monitoring for New Wagons
Greenbrier Leasing Europe implements Amsted Digital IQ Series bogie monitoring on all new wagons from February 27, 2026, for performance data.

An agreement between Greenbrier Leasing Europe (GBXLE) and Amsted Digital Solutions SAS will result in the standard fitment of bogie monitoring hardware on all new wagons joining the GBXLE fleet. The initiative, announced from Amsterdam and Chicago, is scheduled to commence on February 27, 2026.
The technology specified for the deployment is the Amsted Digital IQ Series gateway. Each self-contained telematics unit is mounted directly to a wagon’s bogie to monitor running gear performance. The initial data collection phase will focus on wheel slide events, wheel fault reporting, and intelligent shock detection.
Future functionality, including bearing diagnostics, is planned for remote activation via over-the-air software updates, which precludes the need for physical hardware retrofits. Data from the IQ Series gateways will be integrated into fleet management platforms using standard Information Technology for Public Transport (ITSS) protocols.
In addition to equipping its own new-build assets, Greenbrier Leasing Europe will offer bogie-mounted gateway installation services for existing customer-owned wagon fleets. This service is intended to support the transition from traditional mileage-based maintenance schedules to condition-based maintenance programs across the European freight network.
