DNV, a leading European assurance and risk management firm, has released a detailed guide to help rail operators align with the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) guidelines and Common Safety Methods (CSM). The report outlines actionable steps for integrating real-time safety reporting and proactive risk management into daily operations, emphasizing compliance to avoid penalties under stricter regulatory frameworks.

Under the updated ERA requirements, operators must transition from static, retrospective safety reporting to dynamic, real-time monitoring of safety performance. DNV CEO Geir Fuglerud warned that non-compliance could result in significant fines, urging operators to adopt systematic reporting tools and processes.
