The Government of Ghana and the China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC) have signed a $6bn contract for the construction of a railway in the country.

The proposed railway will run from Nsawam through Kumasi to Paga and from Tamale to Yendi. The first and the second phases of the projects will commence on 1 September 2012 and in June 2014 respectively, according to the Government of Ghana.

Railway infrastructure, rolling stock and transport technologies specialist focused on global rail industry developments, high-speed rail systems, signaling technologies and freight transportation. Covering railway investments, public transport modernization, rail operations and international mobility projects across Europe, Asia and North America.
