The project is financed under the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
The allocated funds for the project amount to 120 million levs ($67.8 million/61.4 million euro). The contractor is a consortium which includes Hungarian company Kelet – UT and local firm AB, the ministry said in a press release.
If contractors work within the deadlines, the transport corridor from the border with Serbia to the Black Sea port of Burgas will be fully completed by 2022, transport minister Ivaylo Moskovski said.
The project will be completed in 4 years, including one year for planning and three years for the construction of the railway.
