Azerbaijan Plans to Extend Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Line

Azerbaijan plans to extend the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line by 7 kilometers, connecting it with Sadarak in Nakhchivan and opening up rail communications for the exclave region separated from Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is planning to extend the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line by 7km, linking them with the town of Sadarak in Nakhchivan at a cost of $750m.

The extension will open up rail communications for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave separated from the rest of Azerbaijan.
The rail line will pass through Armenia and will be an extension of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is currently under construction.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project involves construction of 105km of railway of which 76km will be constructed in Turkey and 29km in Georgia, according to news.az.
