Alstom Opens 50-Workstation Naples Hub for Southern Italy Rail

Alstom has established a new operational hub in Naples, situated within the Centro Direzionale business district. The facility offers approximately 50 workstations and is designed to centralize collaboration for teams executing major modernization projects on the region’s railway infrastructure. This development is a component of Alstom’s strategic plan for consolidation within Italy, focusing on regional operational efficiency and local talent acquisition.

The Naples hub functions as an operational center for significant regional mobility contracts. Foremost among these is the A168 EAV project, which mandates the installation of an advanced signaling system across more than 140 km of the Vesuvian lines. This system is based on Alstom’s ACCM1 and European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) solutions. The project scope also includes upgrades to electrical substations and traction systems.

A further technical mandate for the hub’s teams involves the ERTMS AQ2 systems. This work package requires the implementation of signaling and telecommunications systems, accompanied by necessary upgrades to civil and electrical infrastructure. The hub’s location is intended to reduce travel between dispersed offices and project sites, supporting a flexible working model for assigned personnel.

The company is actively seeking engineers specializing in electrical, electronics, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and systems disciplines. Recruitment also targets maintenance technicians and troubleshooting specialists to support the expanding operational footprint. To build a talent pipeline, Alstom maintains partnerships with local academic and technical institutions, including ITS Maddaloni and the Universities of Naples “Federico II” and “Parthenope,” through which it runs internship programs and training courses.

Alstom’s existing presence in the Campania region includes over 270 professionals. These employees are distributed across several key locations. The Nola site is dedicated to the maintenance of Italo high-speed rolling stock for operator NTV. Depots at Naples Campi Flegrei and Naples Gianturco specialize in the maintenance of regional trains and signaling systems. Multiple other construction sites are active with the implementation of new signaling technologies.
