Wabtec Corp. has entered into a $4.2 billion agreement with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) to supply Evolution Series locomotives and provide long-term service support.

Locomotive Delivery and Design

The agreement, announced yesterday, is the largest locomotive agreement in Wabtec’s history. Wabtec will deliver 300 Evolution Series ES44Aci heavy-haul locomotive kits over the next decade.

The new locomotives are designed for Kazakhstan’s challenging weather and mountainous terrain. They are also intended to improve fuel efficiency and extend the intervals between maintenance overhauls.

Service and Maintenance Agreement

Maintenance services agreements will cover both the new locomotives and KTZ’s existing fleet over a 15-year period.

Strategic Partnership

This deal enhances the partnership between Wabtec and KTZ, solidifying Wabtec’s presence in the region.
