RZD to Reconstruct Belgrade – Bar Railway Line

RZD International LLC and JSC “Infrastructure Railways of Serbia” signed an additional agreement to reconstruct the Belgrade-Bar railway line, including complex repairs, structural improvements, and infrastructure upgrades totaling approximately $80 million.

On December 10 in Belgrade (Serbia) RZD International LLC (subsidiary of JSC “Russian Railways”) and JSC “Infrastructure Railways of Serbia” signed an additional agreement to the existing contract on construction and reconstruction works on railway infrastructure in Serbia.
On the part of RZD International LLC document was signed by the CEO Sergei Pavlov, on the part of JSC “Infrastructure Railways of Serbia” – the CEO Goran Maksich.

The additional agreement provides for the reconstruction of the Resnick – Valjevo segment of the railway line Belgrade – Bar. According to the document, on this site with a general extent more than 77 km will be performed complex repair of the lower and upper structure of the way, including repair of all infrastructure objects along the railway, structural repair of bridges and viaducts, as well as the removal of water from the railway cloth on sections which operation previously was conducted with violations.

Implementation of the project will allow bringing railway infrastructure into accordance with the modern safety requirements, considerably increasing the maximum speed of train traffic and capacity of the site.
The contract cost of the project will be about 80 million US dollars.
