Russian and Iran have Agreed about Some Railway Lines Electrification
On December 13, 2016, during a visit of President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov to Tehran at the 13th meeting of the Permanent Russian–Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a supplement to the contractual agreement for the project of electrifying the Garmsar–Ince Burun site was signed by General Director of RZD International Sergei Pavlov and First Vice President of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Ahmad Khodaei in the presence of the head of JSC Russian Railways.
On December 13, 2016, during a visit of President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov to Tehran at the 13th meeting of the Permanent Russian–Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a supplement to the contractual agreement for the project of electrifying the Garmsar–Ince Burun site was signed by General Director of RZD International Sergei Pavlov and First Vice President of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Ahmad Khodaei in the presence of the head of JSC Russian Railways. It will make it possible to soon start the work outlined in the contract, taking into account its funding using export credit from the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

It is planned to continue cooperation on the predesign and implementation of various infrastructure projects in the field of railway transport, which will be offered to the Iranian side.
Mr. Belozerov also held talks with the newly appointed head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Saeed Mohammadzadeh. The parties agreed to enhance joint efforts in developing the transit potential of the North–South international transport corridor in the form of regular meetings of working groups.
Recall that the contractual agreement for the design, supply of materials, equipment, and construction of the project of electrifying the Garmsar–Ince Burun railway section—a total length of 495 km—was signed between RZD International and the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways on November 23, 2015, during a visit of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Tehran.
