Norwegian Rail will Refurbish Train Fleet

The Norwegian State Railway has signed a contract worth $91 million with Bombardier Transportation to refurbish and upgrade 56 trains, including replacing bogies, updating information systems, and providing new lighting and seating. The work will begin in November 2008 and is scheduled for completion by January 2009.

The Norwegian State Railway is to refurbish 56 trains in a contract worth $91m (€64m) with German-based train manufacturer Bombardier Transportation.

The contract includes replacing bogies, providing new lighting and seating on trains carriages and updating information systems.
The Class 5-vehicles were originally built in Norway where refurbishment will be carried out starting in November 2008, with first deliveries scheduled for January 2009.
