Hitachi Rail will supply the core operational and communications systems for the 24-kilometre Sydney Metro West line. The company is contracted as a subcontractor to the Metro Trains West consortium. The technology platform is an expansion of the systems currently deployed on the Sydney Metro Northwest, City, and Southwest lines.

The Metro Trains West consortium, a partnership between MTR Corporation and CRRC Corporation, holds the contract to deliver 16 automated metro trains for the project. The agreement also includes a 15-year term for the operation and maintenance of the network following its public opening, which is targeted for 2032.

Station construction contracts have been assigned to multiple entities. The Metropolis consortium, comprising Lendlease, Mirvac, and Coombes, is responsible for the development of the Hunter Street Station in the Sydney central business district. Main construction works for this station are scheduled to commence in late 2026.

Additional infrastructure delivery is divided between two primary contractors. Gamuda will design and construct five new underground stations located on the western section of the alignment. The scope for John Holland includes the installation of approximately 60 kilometres of track and the construction of a new train maintenance facility for the line.
