Toulouse Metro Line B Expands 2.7 KM For 14,000 Daily Passengers
Toulouse Metro Line B receives a €145 million EIB loan for a 2.7 km extension. SMTCAT Tisséo Collectivités manages the project to add two stations.

The European Investment Bank is appraising a proposed €145 million loan for the public transport authority SMTCAT Tisséo Collectivités. This funding is designated for the extension of Line B of the Toulouse metro system. The financing represents the final tranche of a framework loan agreement established in 2018, with the total cost for the current project estimated at €182.5 million.
The project scope involves a 2.7 km southeastern extension of Line B from its current terminus at Ramonville. The new infrastructure will include a 500-meter underground section to pass beneath the Canal du Midi and a 2.2 km viaduct segment. Two elevated stations are planned: Parc Technologique du Canal and INPT. The scheduled operational start date for the new section is 2027.
Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie, a subcontractor for Siemens Mobility, began initial rail installation for the extension in 2023. The company’s contract covers the design phase, which runs from 2023 to 2025, as well as the installation of the main track, side guides, three switches, and evacuation sidewalks. Siemens Mobility previously completed a project in 2020 to double the capacity of Toulouse’s Line A.
The new terminal station at the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (INPT) is designed to create an interchange with the city’s planned third metro line. Upon completion, the travel time between Ramonville and the INPT station is projected to be three minutes. The extension is expected to serve an estimated 14,000 passenger journeys per day.
