Alstom will begin testing the prototype of its high-speed train AGV shortly in Italy, ahead of its delivery to the Italian rail operator Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV).

The train, Alstom’s fourth-generation high-speed train, is part of the fleet of 25 trainsets ordered by NTV under a €650m deal.
Delivery of the trains is scheduled to begin in autumn 2010 and they are set to enter service in 2011.
During the testing, the train will cover over 60,000km on the Italian rail network between January and July 2010, reaching a top speed of 335kmph during acceleration tests.
