Network Rail Launches 1.5 Miles Rail Renewal Project At Aberdeen
Network Rail conducts 1.5 miles of rail renewal at Aberdeen Station, installing 1,500 new sleepers. Three weekend closures affect services.

Network Rail will conduct track renewal works at Aberdeen Station, requiring the facility to close to passenger services on three weekends. The scheduled closures are for 31 January-1 February, 7-8 February, and 15-16 February. The project is concentrated on the infrastructure serving platforms 3, 4, 6, and 7.
The engineering scope includes the replacement of approximately 1.5 miles of rail. The works will also involve the installation of 1,500 new sleepers and the deployment of 4,500 tonnes of new ballast to reconstruct the track foundation. Upgrades will also be applied to equipment that manages train movements between lines within the station.
During the engineering possessions, services operated by ScotRail, CrossCountry, and LNER will not operate to or from Aberdeen. Rail replacement bus services will be implemented by the affected train operating companies to provide alternative transport for passengers in northeast Scotland.
