Japanese Class 395 Trains Arrives to UK

The UK has welcomed its first high-speed bullet train, set for rapid travel times and Olympic preparations.

The world’s fastest train has arrived in the UK, the first of a fleet timed in preparation for London’s Olympic Games in 2012.

Manufacturers of Japan’s high-speed bullet train, Hitachi Europe, dispatched the first six-car Class 395 for use on Southeastern’s high-speed services lines.

It is hoped the train will carry passengers from the Olympic site in Stratford to London Kings Cross St Pancras in seven minutes, in addition to significantly cutting travel times on the Kent network.

The remaining 25 trains will be delivered in 2009 when they are due to start service. The new trains will be the fastest in the country, with the exception of the Eurostar.
