Ukrainian Railways (Ukraliznytsia) has dispatched its first train carrying semi-trailers on the Lviv–Fényeslitke route, establishing a new intermodal connection between Ukraine and Hungary. UZ Cargo Poland, a Polish subsidiary of Ukraliznytsia, managed the project in cooperation with the East West Gate (EWG) Terminal in Fényeslitke, Hungary, and Ukraliznytsia’s “Lisky Transport Service Center” (LTS). The train originated at the Sknyliv–Lisky terminal near Lviv for the Ukrainian segment of its journey.

Specialized loading technology was employed to handle the semi-trailers without the use of tractors or cranes. On the 1520 mm gauge section, LTS utilized modernized platforms along with equipment and technologies from Sun Smart Logistics. Upon arrival at the EWG terminal in Fényeslitke, the semi-trailers are transshipped to T3000-type platforms for onward transport on the 1435 mm gauge network.
