Thales will Install ETCS System in Mexico City
Electronics and systems group Thales has installed the European Train Control System (ETCS) and integrated communications equipment on a Mexico passenger line.
The company will provide the systems for the Mexican Railway Authority-run line serving Buenavista in central Mexico City and Cuautitlan in Estado de Mexico.
The contract will see the company install rail signalling turnkey with electronic interlocking and trackside signalling equipment as well as ETCS on-board equipment.
The company will also provide preventive and corrective signalling and telecom maintenance services for a 30-year concession period.
The system provides continuous speed supervision for a three-minute design headway for the line, which stretches 27km across five municipalities, says Thales.
