Thales has secured a €13.5m contract with Scomi Engineering for signaling solutions on Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Monorail, including Level 1 ETCS interlocking and new vehicles equipped with ETCS computers.

Thales has won a €13.5m contract from Scomi Engineering to deliver signalling solutions for tje Kuala Lumpur monorail project in Malaysia.

The contract involves installation of a new signalling system for the main line and depot based on an ETCS Level 1 solution, interlocking systems and a new operational control centre.
The company will also install ETCS Level 1 computers on board 12 new vehicles.
The signalling project is expected to be completed by August 2012, and the monorail project is expected to be inaugurated in November 2012.
Scomi Engineering is carrying out the monorail project under a contract from Malaysian rail operator Prasarana.
