The 2025 World Title – Special Prize for Interior has been awarded to Gadigal Station in Sydney. This follows the station’s inclusion on the “Magnificent Seven” list in November 2024. The design was delivered by a collaboration between Foster + Partners and COX Architecture for the transport authority, Sydney Metro.

Architectural features of the station include halls clad in sandstone and platforms lined with aluminum tubular panels for acoustic management. The station’s entrances incorporate “Return of the Gadi Reed,” a series of cast aluminum sculptures created by artists Rowena Welsh-Jarrett, Alison Page, and Dakota Dixon. The station is named in recognition of the Gadigal people.

Gadigal Station commenced public operations in August 2024 and serves approximately 15,700 passengers daily. As part of a six-station underground line, it facilitates express services with journey times of nine minutes to Sydenham and 13 minutes to Chatswood.

The station is integrated with a broader real estate development that includes the Parkline Place commercial office tower and a separate residential building containing 234 units. This co-location of transport infrastructure with commercial and residential property was a central component of the project’s design brief.
