RZD, Iranian Railways to Develop Cooperation for Railway

On March 28 in Moscow, President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and Chairman of the Board and President of JSC Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Saeid Mohammadzadeh signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation in the electrification of railways.

The sides noted the high level of mutual cooperation and expressed their intention to transfer the experience that will be obtained during the electrification of the Garmsar-Inche Burun (Iran) section to other potential joint projects.

Also on March 28, a contract was signed for the electrification of the Garmsar-Ince Burun railway section and the supply of Russian equipment and materials. The document was signed by General Director of RZD International Ltd. (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) Sergey Pavlov and Chairman of the Board and President of JSC Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Saeid Mohammadzadeh.
The cost and scope of the project, the cost of which is estimated at €1.2 billion, are detailed in the contract.
