The Organization’s Director of Public Relations and Information Nasser Al-Dossari said that this amendment emanates from the Organization’s keenness to meet the increasing demand of passengers.

Despite the cancellation of its contract with Talgo last week to provide new rolling stocks, the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) will operate the line based on its existing train fleet.

SRO operates a 1005km double line between Riyadh, Hofuf and Dammam. The network is extending from King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and the City of Dammam itself (on the Kingdom’s east coast) to Riyadh, the Capital in Central Arabia, passing by Abqaiq, Hofuf, Haradh, Al-Tawdhihiyah and Al-Kharj.

The line is equiped with standard gauge of 1435mm. The network is divided into three districts of almost equal length i.e. Dammam District, Hofuf District and Riyadh District.
