The Nigerian Government has inked a deal with China Civil Engineering Construction to rebuild a 200km rail link between Abuja and Kaduna, as part of a $875 million project aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s railway network.

The Nigerian Government has signed a deal with state-owned China Civil Engineering Construction to reinstate a section of its railway network.
Work under the $875m deal involves rebuilding the section of the railway between the administrative capital of Abuja and the northern city of Kaduna, which are nearly 200km apart, over the next three years.
The section forms the first phase of the Nigerian railway modernisation project.
Work on the section will be part funded by a concessionary loan of $500m from the Chinese government.
