GB Railfreight, Wabtec Sign 10-Yr Deal for 585 Wagons, KinetiX Tech
Peterborough’s GBRf Maintenance Centre designated for 10-year service of 585 GB Railfreight wagons, utilizing Wabtec KinetiX system.

A ten-year maintenance agreement for a fleet of 585 intermodal wagons was signed between GB Railfreight and Wabtec on February 2, 2026. The contract designates the GBRf Maintenance Centre in Peterborough, UK, as the location for all service and inspection activities covered under the terms.
The assets included in the agreement are 585 FEA-G double intermodal wagons, which were manufactured by Greenbrier and entered service in August 2023. These wagons are leased by GB Railfreight from the rolling stock asset management company Porterbrook and are used for container transport and construction material logistics.
The contract specifies the installation and use of the Wabtec KinetiX imaging system at the Peterborough facility. This system utilizes laser-guided technology capable of capturing 20,000 images per second to build a digital profile of each wagon, documenting its physical condition during inspection passes.
This data collection method replaces a maintenance schedule based on standard service intervals with a condition-based model. Maintenance work is to be scheduled based on the calculated life cycle of components and the real-time health data acquired by the KinetiX system. The stated operational objective is to reduce in-service failures and increase overall fleet availability.
