EMD Delivered Saudi Railway’s Locomotives

Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Railway has received its first SD70ACS freight locomotives, featuring pulse filtration systems, movable sand ploughs, 710-T1 fuel-efficient diesel engines, and compatibility with the European Train Control System for transporting minerals on a newly constructed north-south railway line.

Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Railway has received the first consignment of 25 SD70ACS freight locomotives.

The six locomotives will be used for transporting minerals on the north-south railway line, which is currently under construction. The SD70ACS features a pulse filtration system and movable sand ploughs to operate in extreme desert conditions.

The locomotives also feature 710-T1 fuel-efficient diesel engines and are compatible with the European Train Control System. Electro-Motive Diesel supplied the first order and the rest of the deliveries will be completed by the end of the year.
