Poland’s regional rail operator Koleje Mazowieckie has selected China South’s Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive to supply 11 electric locomotives.

The company has been named as the lowest bidder at $50m(€35m), lower than Bombardier’s $58.8m (€41m) and Siemens’ $63m (€44m) bid.
The locomotives will be used to power 160kmph push-pull trainsets using 37 Bombardier-supplied coaches.
The contract is expected to be signed by the end of March and the delivery of the locomotives is scheduled for December 2011.
