Bombardier Transportation and Italian engineering company AnsaldoBreda’s rail subsidiary Finmeccanica have signed an agreement to develop and manufacture a new high-speed train capable of travelling at more than 300km/h.

The new train will eliminate “the shortcomings of existing concepts” with improved operating efficiency and safety, enhanced seating capacity and compliance with European interoperability standards, says Bombardier.
The two companies will merge expertise and apply technologies recently developed for the global high-speed industry.

AnsaldoBreda is currently delivering its new V250 high-speed train to the Netherlands and Belgium railways for operation on the Amsterdam-Brussels route.
