The exterior design of Italo’s new Pendolinos has been shown by Alstom.

Italian operator NTV has ordered eight Pendolino train sets to add to its fleet of 25 high-speed AGV units.

An “evolution” of the Pendolino design, the new seven-car trains are 187 metres long and maximum operating speed is 250 km/h. Unlike previous generations of Pendolino trains, NTV’s fleet will be TSI compliant.

The order includes a 20-year maintenance agreement with Alstom, which will be delivered from the manufacturer’s facility in Nola.

The trains, which will operate on both Italy’s high-speed and conventional rail network, will deliver in late 2017 and enter service in early 2018.
