In 2025, the Regional Transportation District in Denver conducted approximately 5 million fare inspections across its rail network. The enforcement actions resulted in the recovery of 208,722 fares. Agency personnel also issued 14,664 warnings and 712 citations for non-payment during this period.

Data from the initiative showed a fare evasion rate of 7.3% on the light-rail system, based on 591,000 passenger checks. On the commuter-rail network, where over 4.2 million checks were performed, the recorded evasion rate was 4.0%.

These operations were an implementation of RTD-Denver’s 2024 security plan. To support the increased enforcement, the transit authority’s police force was expanded with 105 new officers. The agency has stated that fare verification activities will continue through 2026.
