HZ Infrastruktura is deploying a trackside vehicle monitoring system across the Croatian rail network with a total project value of €17.1 million. The financing structure for this initiative consists of a €14.5 million grant, representing 85% of the cost, from the Connecting Europe Facility. The remaining €2.6 million is provided by the Croatian State Budget, based on a financing agreement signed in November 2020.

A works contract for the equipment and installation, valued at €7.7 million, was awarded in March 2023 to a consortium formed by Electrokem and S&T Iskratel. The project scope includes the installation of nine trackside measuring stations, designated as five Type 1 and four Type 2 units, designed to collect diagnostic data from passing trains.

The system transmits real-time data to a central monitoring facility in Zagreb and to local dispatch centers in Zagreb, Vinkovci, and Rijeka. Five of the nine planned measuring stations are currently operational. Full commissioning of the entire system is scheduled for completion by 2026.
