Inauguration and Attendees

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada; François Legault, Premier of Québec; Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Mayor of Montréal; Charles Emond, CEO of La Caisse; Jean-Marc Arbaud, CEO of CDPQ Infra; and Ehren Cory, CEO of Canada Infrastructure Bank. Also present were the CEOs of Pulsar, Alstom Americas, AtkinsRéalis, and Hydro-Québec.

Network and Technology

The network utilizes Alstom’s Urbalis GoA4 solution and is operated by Alstom Metropolis metro trains. Alstom will supply 106 two-car trainsets (212 railcars) for the Montréal REM network.

Route and Connectivity

For the first time, passengers can travel across Greater Montréal from Brossard to Deux-Montagnes. The route traverses Mount Royal and crosses the St. Lawrence River, Rivière des Prairies, and Rivière des Mille-Îles. The Deux-Montagnes section links the North and South shores to downtown Montréal, with stations on the West Island.

Expanded Service and Future Developments

The expanded network includes 19 stations, offering direct access to three of Montréal’s four metro lines, as well as the upcoming Mascouche exo line. The project, after seven years of construction, has expanded coverage and quadrupled the number of stations in operation. Technical teams will continue testing the Anse-à-l’Orme branch until spring 2026, which will affect the service schedule between Côte-de-Liesse and Deux-Montagnes stations.
