Thales will Supply ETCS Level 1 in Polland

PKP, the Polish rail operator, has signed a €10 million contract with Thales for the installation of an ETCS Level 1 system along a 224km rail line connecting Grodzisk Mazowiecki to Zawiercie, Poland’s first use of the technology, aiming to enhance operational safety and speeds up to 200 kmph.

Polish rail operator PKP (Polskie Koleje Panstwowe) has awarded a €10m contract to Thales to supply and install a ETCS Level 1 system along a 224km rail line.
The rail line, which will become the first to use ETCS in Poland, connects Grodzisk Mazowiecki to Zawiercie.
The ETCS system will allow trains to run at speeds of up to 200kmph and help enhance its operational safety.
The system is scheduled to be deployed by June 2011.
