Deutsche Bahn AG is exploring acquisitions worth up to €500 million for English, Welsh and Scottish Railway Holdings Ltd (EWS) and Spain’s Transfesa, aiming to develop a joint European rail freight network.

Deutsche Bahn AG is considering spending up to €500m to acquire rail freight operators English, Welsh and Scottish Railway Holdings Ltd (EWS) and Spain’s Transfesa, Financial Times Deutschland reported on Wednesday.

EWS said it is in talks with Deutsche Bahn about developing a joint European rail freight network. The talks cover a full range of cooperation options, such as joint projects or the acquisition of EWS shares by Deutsche Bahn, EWS said in a statement.

Railway infrastructure, rolling stock and transport technologies specialist focused on global rail industry developments, high-speed rail systems, signaling technologies and freight transportation. Covering railway investments, public transport modernization, rail operations and international mobility projects across Europe, Asia and North America.
