UK will Install Railway Signalling System in Birmingham

A multimillion-pound railway signaling upgrade project in the UK, including a new control center and transfer of signal boxes to Saltley for the North Warwick line from Stratford via Avon to Birmingham, is set to begin at the end of October.

A new railway signalling system will be switched on at the end of October along the route from Stratford via Avon to Birmingham in the UK.

The total value of the multimillion-pound project has not been disclosed, but is prompted by the need to update aging equipment and signal boxes on the North Warwick line to Stratford.
The system will be controlled by signallers in a computerised control centre in Saltley in Birmingham, UK.
As part of the work, control of the line will be transferred from the three existing signal boxes at Shirley, Henley and Bearley to the west midlands signalling control centre in Saltley.
The current project is part of Network Rail’s plan to completely renew signalling throughout the West Midlands by 2015, during which the New Street signalling controls will be transferred.
The system will be tested extensively before it is brought into use.
