Eurostar, the high-speed passenger train operator, has opened its new £400m train maintenance depot in East London in preparation for the launch of services between the UK and Europe in November.

The new Temple Mills depot replaces Eurostar’s current UK depot, North Pole International in West London.
The depot is connected to the new dedicated 186mph High Speed 1 line, expected to slash journey times between London and Paris / Brussels by 20 mins.

The depot is equipped with a bi-directional carriage washer and automatic wheel-condition monitoring equipment to replace existing manual techniques.

Eurostar Engineering Centre Temple Mills was officially opened today by Tom Harris MP, the UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport.
