Tunisian Railway Awarded French Consortium for Interlocking System

Tunisian railway company Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Tunisiens has awarded a €20m contract to a French consortium of Vossloh Cogifer and Thales to supply electronic interlockings for 14 stations.

The 14 PC-based LockTrac 6171 electronic interlocking system (PIPC) would be installed at stations on the Borj Cedria-Kalaa Seghira section of the Tunis-Gabes line as well as on the Manoube-Ghardimaou section of the Tunis-Alger line.
Along with providing high levels of safety and optimised total cost of ownership, the system’s high interoperability levels will improve railway connections to neighbouring countries.
The consortium will design, install, test and commission the system.
