TRU Community Fund: Supporting UK Rail Communities & Local Projects

With a deadline of Monday 27 October, the TRU Community Fund is providing £250,000 to support organizations located within five miles of the Transpennine route between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York, and the Shipley Traincare Centre.
Fund Overview
Grants of £1,000, £5,000, £10,000, or £20,000 are available through the TRU Community Fund to support the creation or enhancement of community-focused facilities. Applications are managed via the TRU Community Fund campaign page on their website.
Community Engagement
The Community Fund is part of TRU’s commitment to invest in local communities and protect the spaces where it will be working over the next decade. TRU colleagues have recently been joined by political stakeholders to visit Community Fund recipients and observe the impact of the funding.
Recent Visits
A visit to The Conservation Volunteers was made, which was joined by Councillor Kate Ravilious, Executive Member for Transport at City of York Council. The organization enhances and protects green spaces through conservation and community engagement. TRU also visited Support and Action for Women’s Network (SAWN), an Oldham charity supporting Black and Asian minority ethnic women. This visit, joined by Councillor Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, showcased the new community cabin funded at SAWN’s Chadderton allotment site.
