STIB, Belgium’s public transport authority, will upgrade its traffic control systems on two metro lines using a modernised platform developed by international electronics group Thales.

Belgium’s Brussels public transport authority STIB is to upgrade traffic control systems used on two of the capital’s metro lines.

The STIB has awarded a two-year contract to international electronics and systems group Thales to modernise the existing system and provide identical functionalities, the company has announced.

The proposed traffic control system is built around the Thales SCADASoft platform and commissioning is scheduled for February 2009.

Railway infrastructure, rolling stock and transport technologies specialist focused on global rail industry developments, high-speed rail systems, signaling technologies and freight transportation. Covering railway investments, public transport modernization, rail operations and international mobility projects across Europe, Asia and North America.
