Thales has received a contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to deliver an advanced passenger information system for the new Jaipur Metro in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

DMRC is responsible for implementing the new two-line metro, a rapid transit system currently being built in Jaipur.
The Thales passenger information system, which is similar to the system installed on the Delhi Metro, will interface with the traffic management system to offer correct visual and audio information.
A single software platform equipped in the system will help the Jaipur Metro in gathering and distributing real-time traffic information to passengers at stations and on trains.
Passengers will also receive updated information during their entire journey across the network via a synchronised audio passenger announcement system, a visual passenger information system and a time information system.
The Green Line of the Jaipur Metro, which is expected to begin services in 2013, will be 12km long and run from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar, serving eight elevated and three underground stations.
The first 9.7km section of the Green Line from Mansarovar to Chandpole is expected to open on 30 June 2013, with the remaining part of the line, along with the Orange Line, scheduled to be completed in March 2017.
Following completion, Jaipur Metro will be one of the country’s largest metro rail systems after those in Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The 23km Orange Line, which will feature five underground and 15 elevated stations, will extend from Amba Bari to Sitapura Industrial Area in the south of Jaipur and will interchange with the Green Line at Sindhi Camp.
Thales said that the new contract follows the successful delivery and implementation of the Thales passenger information system for the first, second and third phases of the New Delhi Metro network.
